Grover’s Story
Grover came to Luvin Arms in September 2026 after entering shelter care when the other animals he had lived with were gone and his previous caregiver could no longer find him a place.
His records described him as very friendly, with eating and cuddling among his favorite activities. They also noted that he would be happiest with other animals to play with.
When Grover was examined, he was underweight, with his backbone and hips easily felt. He also had some hair loss near the base of his neck, although his teeth and hooves were in good condition and he showed no significant lameness.
One of the first things people notice about Grover is his tiny ears. Grover is a LaMancha goat, a breed known for naturally having very short external ears. Nothing happened to them. They are simply one of the characteristics that makes LaManchas so recognizable.
When he came to Luvin Arms, we also felt that a new chapter deserved a new name.
We chose Grover, inspired by Grover Underwood from Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a satyr who is part human and part goat.
More importantly, Grover now has the opportunity to build lasting relationships with other goats.
Goats are deeply social beings. They form friendships, seek comfort from one another, play, rest together, and depend on the security of their herd. After losing the animals he once lived with, companionship is especially important in Grover’s new life.
At Luvin Arms, Grover no longer faces an uncertain future or wonders where he belongs.
