Story:
Vidia, and her companions Silvermist, Tinkerbell, Fawn, and Iridessa, were “spent” hens: once valued for their egg-laying, but often discarded, given away, or sent to slaughter once their eggs slowed. Unlike many hens treated as commodities, these five were rescued and given a second chance.
The hens were brought to live with Peter, a stunning white peacock who had been abandoned on a property south of Denver years earlier. Recognizing his loneliness, the family that rescued Peter also rescued these spent hens to be his companions. For nearly a decade, they ensured Peter and his feathered friends were safe, well-fed, and loved.
When the family needed to sell the property, they reached out to Luvin Arms to ensure Peter and the hens would continue to live enriched, happy lives. At the Sanctuary, the hens and Peter are free to express their natural behaviors, socialize, and enjoy a peaceful, loving environment.
While many hens are discarded once their egg-laying slows, Vidia, Silvermist, Tinkerbell, Fawn, and Iridessa now live proof that spent hens are still valuable, sentient beings deserving of care, companionship, and love.
