Peter

Loves:

  • Calling out to Peaches across the sanctuary
  • Displaying his magnificent white feather for visitors

Story:

Peter, a stunning white peacock, was abandoned on a property south of Denver years ago. When a new family purchased the land, they discovered Peter and took him in. Recognizing his loneliness, they rescued “spent” hens as companions for Peter. For nearly a decade, they ensured Peter and his companions were safe, well-fed, and loved.

When the family eventually needed to sell the property, they wanted to make sure Peter would continue to live a happy, enriched life. As supporters of Luvin Arms, they reached out to us for help. Coincidentally, we had just one peafowl at the Sanctuary: Peaches, a resident who had been calling out for another of her kind.

Peter’s caretakers shared that he, too, often called out for companionship, and it was clear both he and our resident peafowl, Peaches, longed for connection. We knew this was a match meant to be.

Now, Peter has a forever home at Luvin Arms, where he’s free to express his natural behaviors, socialize, and live a life of peace and friendship.
Sadly, many peafowl are kept as ornamental “decorations,” valued only for their beauty rather than their needs as sentient, social beings. At Luvin Arms, we honor Peter for who he truly is: a unique individual deserving of care, companionship, and love.
