Mr. Tumnus’s Story
Mr. Tumnus came to Luvin Arms in September 2026 after entering shelter care through an animal cruelty investigation.
At six years old, he was severely underweight, with a body condition score of just 1 out of 5. His backbone and hips were easily felt, and his hooves were mildly overgrown. His body reflected the lack of care he had experienced before reaching safety.
But even then, Mr. Tumnus was showing everyone exactly who he was.
During his time in shelter care, staff described him as social, inquisitive, and gentle. He enjoyed going for walks, stayed close to his group, and would hurry to catch up if they moved too far ahead. He was comfortable meeting people of all ages and especially loved produce treats, with carrots quickly becoming a favorite.
His name was inspired by Mr. Tumnus, the kind-hearted faun who becomes Lucy Pevensie’s first friend in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. For a goat with such a gentle nature, the name feels especially fitting.
At Luvin Arms, Mr. Tumnus has the opportunity to recover at his own pace. He has nutritious food, veterinary care, enrichment, companionship, and the security of knowing that his needs will continue to be met.
What happened before sanctuary will always be part of his story, but it does not define him.
Now, Mr. Tumnus has the time and space to build relationships, make choices, and continue showing us who he is.
