Story:
In early August 2025, we received an urgent call from someone with a terrifying but sadly familiar story. Their newly established backyard coop had been attacked by a predator, killing two chicks and severely injuring the two survivors. Unfortunately, attacks like this are all too common. Many new backyard chicken owners don’t realize the protections needed to keep their flock safe from predators.
We immediately took the injured chicks to our vet for treatment. Sadly, one of them, whom we named Zipper, passed away within 24 hours due to the severity of their injuries. But Button fought hard to recover. We named her Button because she’s as cute as one, and she quickly showed her resilience and determination.
After recovering, Button remained in quarantine until she was big and strong enough to join her new flock safely. Today, she’s a thriving, happy grown chicken, making friends and living her best chicken life. We’re so grateful we could be there to give her a second chance.
