Maya

Loves:

  • Her mom, Miraa
  • Sunbathing
  • Running around the pasture

Story:

Before Maya was born, her mother, Miraa, was rescued from a Colorado beef ranch alongside her son, Krishna. Krishna, who had dwarfism, was at risk of being sent to auction because he was considered “unproductive” by the industry. When our team arrived, Miraa and Krishna had been separated and were desperately calling out for one another. We knew we couldn’t leave either of them behind.

After bringing them to safety at Luvin Arms, we discovered that Miraa was pregnant, a common reality for cows in the beef industry, where females are repeatedly bred throughout their lives.

On April 25, 2026, Maya was born healthy and strong.

Unlike so many calves born into the cycle of exploitation, Maya was born into freedom. She entered the world surrounded by care, with the opportunity to stay by her mother’s side and grow up knowing safety, love, and compassion. She will never be separated from her family or viewed as a commodity.

Maya’s life is a powerful reminder of what rescue makes possible. Because Miraa was given a second chance, Maya’s very first day was spent exactly where every baby deserves to be: safe, loved, and free.
