Greenie’s Story
Greenie came to Luvin Arms in December 2023 with her sisters, Betty, Vinnie, Dolly, Eartha, and Choroki, after members of our Executive Director’s extended family no longer wanted to care for them. The hens had been living in a backyard flock, and the family had considered abandoning them. Our ED had made her opposition to how they were treating the chickens clear, and her family knew she did not support their decisions.
Before the hens were left behind, the family reached out directly to our ED, and all six came to Luvin Arms. Their story reminds us that advocating for animals sometimes means having difficult conversations with people close to us. These girls needed a permanent home where their care would be taken seriously.
Greenie and her sisters settled into a flock with Squint, a rooster who shares their home. Choroki passed away in 2024, and she remains part of their story.
Greenie is shy around people, though a snack offer often brings her closer. At dinner, she enjoys dashing around the hall, and she spends much of her time with her sisters. We respect her choice to keep some distance and let her decide when to approach. Here, she has a lifelong home with familiar companions and care that recognizes what matters to her.
