Eartha’s Story
Eartha came to Luvin Arms in December 2023 with her sisters, Betty, Greenie, Dolly, Vinny, and Choroki, after members of our Executive Director’s extended family no longer wanted to care for them. The hens had been living in a backyard flock, and the family had considered abandoning them. Our ED had made her opposition to how they were treating the chickens clear, and her family knew she did not support their decisions.
Before the hens were left behind, the family reached out directly to our ED, and all six came to Luvin Arms. Their story reminds us that advocating for animals sometimes means having difficult conversations with people close to us. These girls needed consistent care and a home where they could remain together.
Eartha and her sisters settled into a flock with Squint, a rooster who shares their home. Choroki passed away in 2024, and she remains part of their story.
Eartha is shy, but she is also active and curious about her surroundings. She enjoys roaming, snacking on her favorite treats, and settling into a nest box, rarely venturing far from her sisters. Those relationships are important to her. At Luvin Arms, we respect her need for familiar company and give her space to approach people and new experiences at her own pace.
