Diego’s Story
Diego came to Luvin Arms after a community member intervened to prevent him from being slaughtered. His original caregiver had moved to Mexico, and he was placed with a new flock. When the other chickens did not accept him, the people caring for him decided to have him killed. Someone stepped in and helped bring him to the sanctuary, where we could offer him a permanent home.
Diego has a history of corneal ulcers in both eyes, possibly caused by trauma or exposure to high ammonia levels in a previous environment. Although the ulcers are no longer active, his vision remains limited. He appears to see primarily through the back portion of his right eye and may distinguish shadows with his left. He also lacks depth perception. Understanding those limitations helps us provide care that supports his safety and comfort.
Diego is gentle and enjoys attention, and his enthusiastic morning crows carry across the sanctuary. Getting to know him means noticing both his spirited personality and the support he needs. At Luvin Arms, he has a lifelong home where his needs will be met with patience and care.
