Nov. 19, 2021 – Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary will host a campaign for turkeys this Thanksgiving to bring awareness about the extreme pain and suffering endured by turkeys, and to encourage a more compassionate holiday.
The campaign will include a pledge drive to eat a vegan meal this Thanksgiving, a sponsorship drive to support Luvin Arms’ turkey residents for a year, and a Trot for Turkeys run by Animal Enrichment Coordinator, Robert Heyer. For every pledge and turkey sponsorship, Mr. Heyer will run a celebration lap around the Sanctuary.
“In the U.S., an estimated 46 million turkeys are killed each year for Thanksgiving alone,” said Shartrina White, Executive Director at Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary. “Let us inspire our friends and family to eat food that did not come from pain and suffering. Let us redefine these holidays and make them about Compassionate Gratitude. Instead of Thanksgiving, let us celebrate ThanksLiving.”
The Trot for Turkeys event will be live on Luvin Arms’ Facebook and Instagram pages on ThanksLiving Day, November 25, 2021: https://www.facebook.com/luvinarms/ and https://www.instagram.com/luvinarms/.
