Jamie has been a volunteer at Luvin Arms since 2022. Drawn to the sanctuary’s mission, vegan values, and the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with the residents, she found a place where her compassion for animals could translate into direct connection and care.
Much of Jamie’s time at the sanctuary is dedicated to enrichment, where she works closely with Po, Flora, Fauna, and Tito. Through these relationships, she has come to know each of them as individuals, learning their unique personalities, preferences, and communication styles while creating opportunities for enrichment, connection, and choice.
One of Jamie’s most cherished memories is watching her relationship with Flora and Fauna grow over time. Once scared and timid around people, they gradually began to recognize and trust her. Eventually, instead of moving away when they saw her approaching, they began running toward her. For Jamie, witnessing that transformation and earning their trust have been among the most meaningful parts of her time at Luvin Arms.
Jamie believes some of the most powerful relationships with farmed animals are built through patience, respect, and allowing trust to develop on their terms. The seemingly small moments when a resident chooses to approach, engage, or simply spend time alongside her continue to remind Jamie why her involvement with Luvin Arms means so much to her.
