With no preparation beyond pure faith in this Sanctuary’s ethos, she packed her bags and flew to Colorado, ready to volunteer for 1.5 months.

Favorite Memory
Historically, I have been scared of birds, and hence, birds have been scared of me. One morning, I brought Chamomile the turkey out to the garden to see if she’d sit beside me as I worked. She tried to drink my coffee, smashed some keys on my laptop, and pecked me on the head when she got bored. To watch her be free with me and to watch myself get comfortable with her was incredibly special. This is now our breakfast ritual…a little work, plenty of antics, and spilled coffee.
