Story:
Mama Mississippi and eleven other potbellied pigs were rescued from an animal cruelty case in Jacksonville, FL. These twelve pigs appeared to have been neglected and discarded, left to survive in unforgivable conditions. When they were first discovered there were 14 pigs, but upon returning to rescue, two could not be found. Luvin Arms stepped in to provide forever homes for five of these pigs and assist in transporting another four to a sanctuary in Texas. Upon arrival, our team was informed that one of the pigs destined for our sanctuary might be pregnant. As soon as our team saw her, it was clear she was due to give birth soon. To everyone’s surprise, Mississippi went into labor during transport, delivering six healthy piglets.
Potbelly pigs are intelligent and social animals often misunderstood and mistreated in farm environments. Despite this, they are frequently subjected to neglect and abuse.
Darius has one brother and four sisters: brother Poe and sisters Stella, Tendu, Skylar, and Shirley. They are safe, healthy, and happy with their mama at the sanctuary. They enjoy belly rubs and exploring. We look forward to watching them grow into the unique individuals they are.
