Megan originally hails from West Virginia but did the bulk of her growing up in Maryland. This is where she discovered her love for animal welfare, starting her veterinary career as a kennel technician and technician assistant at just 15 years old. After graduating high school, Megan studied at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, an honors college, before transferring to West Virginia University to pursue more in depth studies in animal science and plant science. Following college, Megan traveled westward, living in Colorado and California, working in research and genetics to learn more about the potential of medical cannabis and other natural medicines. She eventually made her way back east where she spent years working as an emergency and critical care nurse for small and large animals alike. In 2019, Megan decided to finally call Colorado home once again where she took in a stronger role as a mentor and leader in some of the areas best equine and small animal specialty centers. Megan has spent her career pursuing further education in advanced medicine, integrative and eastern medicine, herbalism, and fear free and low stress care. She came to Luvin’ Arms early in 2026 as the new shelter manager, determined to bridge the gap between welfare and advocacy work for farmed animals and veterinary medicine. She is excited to implement her depth of experience and network to further the quality of care each resident receives. When she’s not at the sanctuary, she can be found volunteering in harm reduction in the Denver area, volunteering with emergency veterinary responses during times of natural disaster, at a live concert, practicing yoga, or enjoying Colorado’s vast and beautiful landscapes with her 2 pups.
